Lies, More Lies and Global Warming Statistics

To quote one of my life long heroes, and fellow Missourian, Mark Twain, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics."

People are beginning to recognize the Obama cap-and-trade bill before Congress will increase energy costs, hurt our economy and likely do precious little, if anything, to reduce global warming because it is based on lies, damed lies and made up statistics!

Ever since collectivists initiated the “global warming” hoax to justify to the gullible public their draconian demands for limiting human choice, controlling human behavior, and mandating what we can drive, eat, and heat our homes with, there has been a consistent and substantial cacophony of dissent among scientists and climatologists.

Tom Tripp, a Utah magnesium specialist and member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recently spoke about global warming to a statewide gathering of farmers and ranchers in Provo at the Farm Bureau Mid-year conference. Tripp, along with 2,000 members of the IPCC shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

"Despite what you hear in the media, there is no scientific consensus regarding global warming." Tripp said. "The atmospheric data is not overwhelming and even with increased levels of carbon dioxide it is still only a minuscule portion of the atmosphere. If there are warming trends today, man may not be the prime suspect. For instance, 700 years ago global warming halted the Ancestral Pueblo civilization and it probably wasn't caused by SUVs," he noted.

This global warming hoax has become so overtly outrageous in its lies and deception that it has prompted over 31,000 highly regarded scientist to sign the Oregon Petition. It reads as follows:

“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.”

The Report of the International Conference on Climate Change indicates quite clearly that a substantial number of scientists from all over the world do NOT subscribe to the Al Gore notion of “man-made global warming”. And they have an arsenal of studies to back up their claims, as you will note when reading the article posted at the above link.

 

In addition, the reason these scientists cite as the primary motivation for many of their colleagues jumping aboard the “global warming” bandwagon is that when they do so they suddenly find themselves swimming gleefully in more funding than they know what to do with.

But the most ominous consequence of these scientific sell-outs is the global disaster resulting from the failure of industrialized nations to be prepared for the coming demand for energy.

Barack Obama wants carbon cap and trade that will cost hundreds of billions of dollars to curb “global warming” that the Pacific Decadal Oscillation shows isn’t going to happen in the next several decades (no matter what the cause). The PDO data shows conclusively that global cooling is going to continue for several decades, causing increasing demands of energy and resources (while population escalates), but if we spend hundreds of billions of dollars on cap and trade (as Obama is pushing), we will have little left with which to handle the real problems of increasing demands on dwindling resources.  Obama’s path will lead to a real global catastrophe.

And the losses will extend beyond the monetary. Professor Arthur Robinson, author of the afore-quoted Oregon petition, revealed the true reasons we import 30% of our energy, even though “One Palo Verde Nuclear Installation in each state results in $200 billion net export of energy.”  Robinson says there are those who would prefer that 30% grow much larger, encouraging higher energy prices and ultimately – rationing. And quickly advised, “Once we become victims of rationing in the West we lose our all of our freedoms, but energy deprivation in third world countries will lead to the loss of tens of millions of lives.”

We all use and enjoy the benefits of carbon based energy. It is the affordable foundation of our health, wealth, standard of living and quality of life. To reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the transportation sector 14 percent from 2005 levels by 2020, the cost of driving would simply have to increase, according to a report released by researchers at Harvard’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. The research also appears in the March edition of the journal Energy Policy.

Bottom-line, the current cap-and-trade debate is about increasing the cost of energy in America to reduce use. Obama’s Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill will increase your power bill by 50 - 100 percent. Imagine July in America and you can only afford to set your air conditioner at 85 degrees. Rural citizens use 58 percent more energy that urban residents. Cap-and-trade could further isolate them from health care and other critical services.

To meet the Obama administration’s targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, Americans  will have to experience a sobering reality: gas at seven dollars a gallon. These increasing energy costs will hurt America's farm and ranch families and will severely damage our nation's future food security. Less than 1.5 million farmers and ranchers feed 300 million Americans and another 150 million globally. Food production is heavily energy intensive requiring electricity, fuel and fertilizer for planting, cultivating, irrigating, milking, harvesting, transporting and processing. For Americans to continue enjoying the safest, most abundant and affordable food in the world will require access to reasonably priced energy. Do Americans want to rely on China, India or Mexico to meet our most basic need?

The Obama Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives was an embarrassment to America's public policy process and what the Founding Fathers envisioned in the Constitution. The 1,200-page bill narrowly passed on a 219-212 vote, only after 300 pages were added at 3:00 a.m. the morning of the House vote, a combination of political back room deals and arm-twisting by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Before voting, do you really think any member of Congress read the bill?

The Obama administration’s picking winners and losers through carbon rationing or restricting successful energy technologies will ultimately damage America's free enterprise system and will weaken our global leadership. Starting new businesses or expanding existing ones will be more difficult in a carbon-constrained, cap-and-trade economy. Increased energy costs will ultimately reduce the use of coal and oil, but what energy source will plug the hole?

In the 1970s, a cooling of the planet led to scientific concerns of another ice age. The 1990s supposedly warm up and former Vice President Al Gore's factually misleading "Inconvenient Truth" focused attention on anthropogenic global warming. Declining temperatures since 2002 have the alarmists morphing the global warming crisis into climate change, claiming both sides of the man-caused debate.

Is carbon fraud the white-collar crime of the future? Or should we all take comfort that Gore and Wall Street's Goldman Sachs are already lined up to manage the American “market-based carbon trading system”? As Wall Street companies prepare to trade the “thin air” be aware climate criminals are already cashing in globally on carbon credits and trading schemes. In their study, the Al Gore research-investors devised several combinations of steps that United States policymakers might take in trying to address the heat-trapping emissions by the nation’s transportation sector, which consumes 70 percent of the oil used in the United States. Most of their models assumed an economy-wide carbon dioxide tax starting at $30 a ton in 2010 and escalating to $60 a ton in 2030. In some cases Gore’s research-investors also factored in tax credits for electric and hybrid vehicles, taxes on fuel or both.

The Obama Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill also provides U.S. dollars to foreign countries to purchase carbon credits for avoided deforestation and tree plantings. Money to be made from questionable practices or illicit carbon markets coupled with American companies desperately needing credits to offset emissions will be irresistible to organized crime.

Imposing unilateral cap-and-trade legislation that disarms our economy or places us at a competitive disadvantage in global trade makes absolutely no sense and is “a fool's errand”. The burgeoning populations and economies of China, the world's premier carbon dioxide emitter, and India have both said no to emissions mandates.

Politically, Obama’s Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill supporters see the carbon credits to be sold by the federal government as the most significant revenue-generating proposal of our time and provides for a redistribution of America's wealth and resources.

I believe America needs to do all we can to expand our energy portfolio. Continued reliance on Middle East oil does not make sense, and we all want clean air. Americans interest in energy independence and clean air should not be confused with a radical climate change agenda and costly cap-and-trade policy of the Obama administration. In short, the “global warming” hysteria bandwagon will lead to a world-wide catastrophe and the deaths of tens of millions in the future, not to mention the evil intent to rob individual citizens of the liberty to make their own choices and control their own lives.

The Optimum Population Trust (OPT), which has launched a new initiative urging wealthy members of the developed world to participate in carbon offsets that fund programs for curbing the population of developing nations. In 2007, the group also published a report announcing that children are ‘bad for planet and ‘having large families should be frowned upon as an environmental misdemeanor in the same way as frequent long-haul flights, driving a big car and failing to reuse plastic bags. The same talking point has been re-iterated again and again by public policy groups and environmentalists, as well as the most influential scientists in the US government.

While you may think ideas of sterilization and depopulation could never be accepted by the public, those very concepts are now being embraced and popularized by some as the way forward for humanity.

At last December’s Copenhagen Summit President Obama listened to suggestions from Chinese delegates for a global population control program to tackle the global warming crisis, and he raised no objections what-so-ever! Welcome to the new Amerika comrade!

AL Gore Is A Liar

Calling Al Gore a liar is like calling Paris Hilton a slut: It’s old news, and no one even pretends to be shocked. If the former vice-president ever told the truth, it would demand “man bites dog” front-page coverage.

No serious person ever credited him with inventing the internet, and even the union ladies a the ILGWU knew he was fudging when he claimed to remember his mama singing him to sleep with “Look For The Union Label,” despite the fact that the union theme song was written a couple of decades after Al’s birth.  Even his Earth In The Balance / Inconvenient Truths acolytes are thinning out faster than the ozone layer.

 

But liars, particularly in the political world, need to be confronted publicly. Political lies which are uncontradicted tend to get repeated. And lies which are repeated tend to show up in history books as facts. It's been established that Al Gore's hysterical An Inconvenient Truth is riddled with politically motivated errors (i.e., lies).

The British government ruled that it was unlawful to force-feed the schlockumentary to school kids without giving a disclaimer, since an Act of Parliament prohibits the political indoctrination of children.

The British court cited nine major lies passed off as science in the Goracle's movie:

1. 1.The film claims global warming is responsible for the gradual retreat of the alpine glacier atop Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro. Scientists have conclusively demonstrated no such link exists.

2. 2.The film presents graphs indicating that fluctuating carbon dioxide levels have always preceded and caused global temperature fluctuations. In fact, temperature changes have always preceded carbon dioxide changes.

3. 3.The film suggests global warming caused Hurricane Katrina. Few hurricane experts believe this, and substantial scientific evidence indicates global warming is having no impact on hurricane frequency or intensity.

4. 4.The film asserts global warming is causing Central Africa's Lake Chad to dry up. In fact, land use practices are causing the drying up of Lake Chad, and Central Africa is in an unusual and prolonged wet period.

5. 5.The film asserts global warming is leading to polar bear deaths by drowning. Yet the only documented drowning deaths occurred due to a freak storm, and polar bear numbers are growing substantially.

6. 6.The film claims global warming threatens to halt the Gulf Stream and initiate a new ice age. The vast majority of scientists who have studied the issue have determined such a scenario is implausible.

7. 7.The film asserts global warming is causing the destruction of coral reefs through bleaching. Scientists have identified other causes for coral bleaching and have additionally noted bleaching is a natural process by which coral continually selects ideal symbiotic algae.

8. 8.The film asserts Greenland is in danger of rapid ice melt that will raise sea levels by 20 feet or more. The scientific consensus is that any foreseeable Greenland ice melt will be gradual and will take centuries to substantially raise sea levels.

9. 9.The film asserts the Antarctic ice shelf is melting. In fact, only a small portion of Antarctica is getting warmer and losing ice mass, while the vast majority of Antarctica is in a prolonged cold spell and is accumulating ice mass.
   

But finding nine lies barely scratches the surface with the Goracle, who can tell that many before opening his eyes in the morning. The Science & Public Policy Institute reviewed A Convenient Lie and uncovered a staggering 35 falsehoods.

It's not easy to pack so many fibs into a single movie, but if anyone could do it, you just knew it would be Prince Albert. Move over, Michael Moore — you've met your match!
